Celebrating Graduation in the Lowcountry & Costal Empire
Graduation is one of life’s biggest milestones—whether it’s finishing high school, earning a college degree, or completing a technical certification that launches a brand-new career. Here in the Lowcountry, the Bluffton, Hilton Head, and Savannah areas are home to a vibrant community of students who study, grow, and walk the stage surrounded by coastal charm.
As a local photographer specializing in the Lowcountry’s beauty, I love capturing these unforgettable moments: cap-and-gown portraits, campus photos, family celebrations, and those iconic “I did it!” shots. With so many schools in our region, graduation season is always a meaningful and exciting time.

Why Graduation Photos in the Lowcountry Are So Special
The Lowcountry offers something no other region can match—warm golden light, coastal textures, Spanish moss, historic streets, and a relaxed Southern charm that turns every portrait into a timeless keepsake. Whether we shoot on campus, in downtown Savannah, along the water’s edge, or beneath Bluffton’s oak trees, graduation photos here become both meaningful and unforgettable.

These portraits are perfect for announcement cards, gifts for parents and grandparents, LinkedIn and professional headshots, personal branding for your next chapter, and framed artwork that lasts a lifetime. With years of experience photographing students, families, and events across the Lowcountry, I ensure every graduate feels natural, confident, and truly themselves in front of the camera.

When to Book Your Graduation Photos

Most graduates book their photo sessions during the spring months of February through May, which is the most popular time, or in the fall from October to December for winter ceremonies. Students at schools like SCAD and USCB often schedule their portraits two to three months before their ceremony dates to ensure ideal timing. If you’re hoping for cap-and-gown portraits, campus locations, or that perfect golden-hour light, booking early helps you secure the best conditions for your session.
Choosing the right outfit can elevate your graduation portraits and help you feel confident in front of the camera. Start with clean, well-fitted clothing in neutral or complementary colors that photograph beautifully against the Lowcountry’s soft, natural tones. Bring your cap, gown, stole, and cords for classic milestone shots, and consider a second outfit—such as a dress, suit, or polished casual look—for more personal, lifestyle-inspired portraits. Avoid busy patterns or logos, keep accessories simple, and make sure shoes are comfortable for walking around campus. When in doubt, timeless pieces always create the most elegant and memorable images.

The Lowcountry offers an incredible variety of backdrops for graduation portraits, giving every student the chance to choose a location that feels personal and meaningful. In Bluffton and Hilton Head, favorites include the charm of Old Town Bluffton, the modern architecture of the USCB Bluffton campus, scenic marsh boardwalks, glowing Hilton Head beaches perfect for sunset portraits, and the iconic Harbour Town Lighthouse. Savannah also provides endless creative opportunities, from the artistic SCAD buildings and shaded paths of Forsyth Park to the historic character of River Street, the breathtaking oaks at Wormsloe, Armstrong’s lush campus greenery, and the beautiful cobblestone alleys scattered throughout Savannah’s historic squares. How much do graduation photo sessions cost?
Graduation sessions typically start at $400, which includes one location, 30 minutes of coverage, beautifully edited images, and an online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints.
Can we take photos on my college or campus?
Absolutely! Whether you’re graduating from SCAD, USCB, Savannah State, Savannah Tech, Armstrong, TCL, or another campus, I photograph on-site to capture the environment that shaped your journey.
When should I schedule my session?
Book at least 4–8 weeks before graduation to secure ideal lighting, campus availability, and time for editing before you send out announcements or invitations.
Do you travel to Savannah, Beaufort, or Hilton Head?
Yes — most of the Lowcountry is included with no travel fee. Extended travel (like Jekyll Island or Tybee Island) may include a mileage fee.

Bring your cap & gown, stole, and cords. For underneath, choose clean, neutral, and flattering outfits that match your style. I also recommend bringing one additional outfit for non-gown portraits.
