Does my dog need to be trained?
Not at all. Your dog does not need a perfect sit or stay.
I use patience, treats, play, movement, and breaks to photograph dogs at their own pace. Some of the best expressions happen when a dog is simply allowed to be themselves.
Can my dog stay on a leash?
Yes. Safety always comes first, especially near roads, water, wildlife, unfamiliar dogs, and public spaces.
When possible, a simple leash can be removed during careful retouching. A regular collar is generally easier to retouch than a large harness.
Can people be included in the photographs?
Absolutely. You, your partner, and your children are welcome to participate.
Before the session, we will decide how much of the experience should focus on your relationship and how much should feature your dog alone.
What if my dog is nervous or reactive?
Please tell me about your dog’s needs before the session.
I can select a quieter location, create additional distance from distractions, allow more time for your dog to settle, and avoid unnecessary triggers.
We will never force an interaction or rush your dog.
Can you photograph multiple dogs?
Yes. We can photograph your dogs together and create individual portraits of each dog.
Sessions involving multiple dogs may require additional time so every dog’s personality receives proper attention.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions can take place in the studio, at your home, in Old Town Bluffton, near the May River, on a Hilton Head beach, or at another meaningful Lowcountry location.
We will choose the setting based on your vision and your dog’s comfort, mobility, temperament, and energy.
What happens if the weather changes?
For an outdoor session, we can reschedule, adjust the session time, or move the experience into the studio.
I will monitor the forecast and contact you if the weather may affect your dog’s safety, comfort, or the quality of the photographs.
How soon will I see the photographs?
Your carefully curated preview gallery will be delivered according to the GoodnRich turnaround schedule discussed during booking.
Suggested wording once your turnaround is finalized:
“Your preview gallery will typically be ready within approximately three weeks of your session.”
What should I bring?
Bring your dog’s favorite high-value treats, a familiar toy, water, a leash, waste bags, and anything meaningful you would like included.
You may also want to bring a brush, towel, or lint roller for quick touch-ups.
What if my dog cannot sit still?
That is completely normal.
Your dog does not need to remain still throughout the session. Movement, walking, playing, and natural interaction can create beautiful photographs.
For more controlled portraits, I use short moments of attention rather than expecting a dog to hold a pose for a long time.
