There is no single correct way to bar hop through Savannah. That is the point. Your group might want rooftops and cocktails, country bars and dancing, or a full River Street crawl that gets progressively less organized as the night goes on.
Instead of pretending every bachelorette party needs the same itinerary, here are three example routes you can use as a starting point. Adjust the times, skip stops, stay longer when the vibe is right and do not force the group to leave somewhere everybody is having fun.
Itinerary 1: Rooftop to River Street
Start around 7:00 PM with dinner or drinks in Plant Riverside District. Around 8:30, head to Electric Moon
for rooftop energy and views. By 10:00, move down toward River Street and let the group bounce
between the waterfront bars at its own pace. This route works well for a group that wants the night to start
polished and gradually get louder.
Itinerary 2: City Market to Congress Street
Meet for dinner or drinks around City Market. The Grove or Sorry Charlie's can work as the starting point.
After that, move toward Congress Street and build the night around places such as Barrelhouse South,
Honky Tonk South and Boomy's. This is the route for the group that wants less scenery and more actual
bar-hopping.
Itinerary 3: Tiki Drinks to Downtown Chaos
Start at the Bamboo Room for a completely different atmosphere, then head into City Market and let the
night develop from there. Work in Pour Larry's, Congress Street or River Street depending on the crowd
and the group's mood. This version is intentionally loose - one good starting point, then follow the energy.
A Few Things That Make the Night Easier
Choose a meeting point before anybody starts drinking. Keep the first part of the night walkable. Make
dinner reservations if your group is large. Wear shoes you can actually survive downtown Savannah in.
And if the group splits up, have one agreed place where everyone can regroup.
Savannah's To-Go Cup Culture
Savannah allows eligible adults to carry one alcoholic drink in an approved cup within the city's
designated go-cup zone, subject to local rules. That is one reason downtown bar hopping feels different
here. Do not assume the rule applies everywhere, do not bring drinks into businesses that prohibit
outside alcohol, and never take an open container into a vehicle.
The best itinerary is the one that leaves room for the night to become its own story. You do not need
twelve timed stops. You need a good starting point, a general direction and a group that is ready to have
fun.
